If you look beyond the fancy buildings and glistening lights of the once biggest country in Africa, the less privileged are not hiding in dried up ditches or abandoned homes, they’re right in front of you and one cannot disregard what’s in sight. To Sudan With Love, a voluntary non-profit charity group based in Sudan, started with a small group of friends in 2008 with the main objective of reaching out to the less fortunate in desperate areas in Sudan. The group has, alhamdulillah, grown over the past three years and bridged good-willed people from around the world who share one aim – to give back to Sudan.
During this year, and with the overwhelming donations and assistance received, the group has been able to conclude two projects during the Holy month of Ramadan (http://tosudan.wordpress.com/2011/08/25/ramadan-2011-to-give-is-to-live/) and Eid Al-Fitr (http://tosudan.wordpress.com/2011/09/04/eid-al-fitr-2011-a-reason-to-smile/). The projects began with the purchasing and packaging of hampers containing essential items (such as flour, sugar, tea, clothes and other items) and distributing them to numerous rural areas in and around the capital.
To Sudan With Love is preparing for Eid Al-Adha (http://tosudan.wordpress.com/2011/10/02/eid-al-adha-project-2011-donations/) and once again, it would not be successful without the support of our kind members and volunteers. Similar to the past Eid Al-Fitr project, we are aiming to distribute hampers to neglected families. Each hamper will include a fair quantity of flour, sugar, onions, powdered juice, tea, candy, clothes and more. If we surpass our target, we will biznillah increase the number of hampers and possibly the items in each hamper.
